Defining The Elusive “It“
I refer to “It“ many times,
Most often when I am pressed
For time, space or patience,
Or when I am too lazy to define the subject.
“It“ is not as I once thought “It“ was.
“It“ has changed as I have changed.
“It“ once was a blunt instrument
Performing crude tasks,
Taking on large swaths of challenges
While failing at most.
Now “It“ is more precise,
Dwindling time and resources
Calling for a finer focus,
Choosing the battles to be fought,
The risks to be gambled
And the rewards that may be earned.
But “It“ remains as do I.
