Wilde you flamboyant glamorous peacock.

Your reputation preceded you

Through the ages,

Across the seas,

Even unto your grave

For good or ill

Albeit a reputation that was unjust

And simply in your nature,

Neither sin nor crime.

You thumbed your nose at high society

And the mores they espoused.

You tried to bite society on the ass

But it was society that turned on you

And did more than bite,

It devoured you.

Poor brilliant peacock.

For all the fame and accolades

He was a victim of his nature,

Neither a sin nor crime.

He was his own Dorian Gray.
