What Shall I Tell You?

I would tell you about the things that I see.
I have no profound truths to reveal,
No wisdom of the ages
No pronouncements from on high,
Save a few insights and an occasional glimpse
Of something that might be profound.
But I see many things that others don’t.
I look at the path before my feet,
My focus is near at hand.
Aside the rough and broken ground
I see flashes of colour, buttercup yellow,
A daub of blue from a nodding cornflower
The bright red drops of wild strawberries
Cast like a gunshot spray at my feet,
And ghostly white trilliums
Lying in wait on the forest floor.
I see where the path has led
And where the path is going.
There are eyes peering from the trees
And hands grasping from the bushes
And I would point these dangers out
Saying, “See what I have found”.
It is dangerous yet beautiful.
I reveal them as I see them,
I unveil them as they occur.
With the indulgence of my readers
I unfold every flower
To make them known, loved and feared.
I see the allure in everything.
I sense the peril in all else.
So beware these pitfalls,
They can be deadly.
But by God, they are beautiful.
