Shame on you – Shame on me

When things go wrong and fall apart
When what is right turns wrong
Causality demands an equal share.
The horse is placed behind the cart.
How came we to this awkward branch
This Gordian knot in a line so straight
That could not miss its certain mark
Deflected by a mere mischance?
It must be me. It must be you.
It must be karma, kismet, fate
Stepping in to trip us up
Leaving all our plans askew.
Fingers point between us both
And blame is sought to right the wrong
To bring into finer focus
The point of our dispute.
