I REMEMBER

I remember so many things.
They come unbidden mostly late at night
When the world is dark and silent
And thoughts are free to roam.
Itβs a journey with no route, no signs, no destination
Just random things, one shimmering image coalescing
That leads to another and another
Dancing in the highway.
Or they rise from deep recesses
Like tendrils of kelp rising from the seafloor
Images of long ago and long forgotten time
People, places, events, joys and sorrows
Hidden in the labyrinth of memory
Hidden until such time as I rediscover them,
Hidden from sight and mind
Of things that once were.
But now I remember.
