The Scent Of Summer

The intoxicating scent of summer carried on the air,
A heady draught of memories that call out
To follow, follow across summer’s green
In the dance of birth, life and death
To savour the moment that is now.
Skipping a leprechaun jig across the green
Shaking the dew from flower and blade
Making diamonds shine and stars glimmer
Across the carpet at my feet.
This is the mystery that is consciousness,
To be aware with all the senses I am given
And take delight in each and every one
Transcend this weak and broken shell
To merge, emerge, then re-emerge
Into the daylight from the darkness.
