Why and How

I don’t want instruction on “How” to write,

I think I’m doing pretty well in that regard.

I want instruction on “Why” I write

And how I can write

With more innovation and precision.

Innovation is the key.

It’s how I keep from saying things

That others have said

And play the perfect fool.

“Why” is a trickier point than “How”.

It seems I have a lot to say

And print is the only way

I can be coherent and precise.

My “Why” is a pressure valve

To boil away the ideas percolating

In my head.

It’s really that simple.
