When We Cry<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

When we cry, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do the tears come from?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, Yes, I know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They come from the eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what secret reservoir<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of sadness or grief<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or unbridled happiness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lie behind the eyes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To store up drops<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then let loose such a torrent<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When occasion deems it right or proper<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or we simply cannot help ourselves?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Do we store up pools of sadness<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That slowly fills, unnoticed,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind a dam<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then over-tops and bursts forth<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When sadness overwhelms the heart<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demanding some release?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Are there lakes of grief<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For departed friends, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or relatives or lovers,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each one a tributary flowing down<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To add their share of pain<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To the growing, watery burden?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

And what of tears of joy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which can only find expression<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That flows from an ocean<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of pent-up anticipation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held in check, awaiting a time<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When hopes and dreams are fulfilled?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

There must be some secret place<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind the eyes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where all such raw emotions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lie hidden, awaiting their turn<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To trace runnels down our cheeks<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And give relief to our emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

That must be<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where tears truly come from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
