{"id":8156,"date":"2025-06-07T15:28:36","date_gmt":"2025-06-07T19:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pallimpsest.ca\/?p=8156"},"modified":"2025-06-07T18:37:55","modified_gmt":"2025-06-07T22:37:55","slug":"rent-free","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pallimpsest.ca\/?p=8156","title":{"rendered":"Rent-Free"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:135px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center p1 wp-block-paragraph\"><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Living Rent-Free<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">They seem to think my condition is fragile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Blessed with a constant state&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Of atrial fibrillation,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">My heart, a naughty, misbehaving child<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Is throwing a continuous tantrum<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">That justifies my continued care&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">In the cardiac ward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Fine with me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:48px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Four walls<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Three meals a day<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">And all the time in the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">To wander through my landscapes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">As I write.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">I like to think that I\u2019ve&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">So enchanted the nursing staff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">That they don\u2019t want me to leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Spread smiles wherever you go&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">And whenever can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">There are dividends to be had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">This is medication I keep near at hand<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">And dispense, often under the counter,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Where I think it is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">It just might be illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Anything this good<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Must be breaking some law somewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">I might even be dipping<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Into my own supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">Not a bad monkey to have<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1 wp-block-paragraph\">On my back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-link-color has-small-font-size wp-elements-3eeaf594e2737b5f11578ec106f1910a wp-block-paragraph\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/pallimpsest.ca\">Click here to return Home<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Living Rent-Free They seem to think my condition is fragile.
